Have a Little Fun Even When Life is Stressing You Out
Life can be incredibly stressful—especially with the constant barrage of disheartening news we process on a weekly (sometimes daily) basis. I’m always looking for ways to incorporate more joy into my life, and I often share these things in my popular Friday Five newsletter.
If you’re looking for something to spark a little joy in your life today, I’ve got a few suggestions for you.
Get your colors done
If you’ve never heard of people getting their “colors done,” it’s a process for figuring out which colors look best on you. I got my colors done with Created Colorful (my code JOYFULLYMANAGED will get you a discount) and, let me tell you, it was the best money I’ve ever spent!
The process is super simple. Just upload photos of yourself with different colors draped near your face and the Created Colorful team will not only tell you which colors look best on you, but they will give you recommendations for makeup and send links for clothes in your color palette.
And don’t think you have to swap out your entire wardrobe. You’ve probably got a good many clothes already in your color palette and you can gradually add in more pieces in your better colors while phasing out items that aren’t the best color for you.
If you're curious to see how different colors look on me, check out this side-by-side picture I posted on Instagram (red is not my best color, can you tell?!).
Drown out the noise with Audiobooks
I’m a huge fan of Audiobooks—they tend to make me happier than listening to podcasts.
I like to listen while driving, cleaning up the kitchen, sorting laundry, or when out for a walk. They are also convenient and more easily accessible than ordering a book and waiting for it to be delivered (and you can take them anywhere without worrying about leaving one on the chair in your doctor’s office or at a restaurant table).
I use the Libby app to get free audiobooks from my library (your local library probably uses Libby or a similar app), but occasionally I pay for one (like when there's a hot new title out with a long waiting list) and I use Audible for that.
My Audible friend link should get you either 3 free audiobooks to keep forever or a 30-day free trial depending on the time of year.
Watch Tom Holland dance
If all else fails… this video is a must-watch!
It's not new, but if you've never seen it you need to go ahead and click over right now. I have stopped meetings in progress to show this to attendees upon learning that some had not yet seen it.
It’s sure to be a small bit of fun in your day.
Want more tips?
If you’d like more tips like these, my popular Friday Five Newsletter is the best place to get them every week!
Some of the above links create charitable donations when you click them. I only recommend products I have personally used and love! The way Amazon commissions work is that if you click on my link and buy literally anything (except gift cards), I get a small commission on that item. It does not have to be the item I linked. I cannot see your cart nor do I get an email saying, “Jazmyn bought dog food”. It does not cost you extra. If you are going to shop on Amazon and want me to get commission (so that we can donate it), you can always go to this page and use any of the links.
